Comme Des Garcons
Comme des Garcons, French for 'like the boys', is a Tokyo based design house currently headed by Rei Kawakubo. What began originally as a side-business functioning strictly in costume design and style assignments in the 1960s, morphed into a fashion empire. Once deemed idiosyncratic deviations in gaudy, avant-garde designs, Comme des Garcons pieces have become the quintessence of edge and cool. PLAY, the youthful men's, women's and children's luxury street wear falls under the CDG umbrella. Marked by the playful bug-eyed embroidery hearts created in collaboration with New York graphic artist Filip Pagowski, the clothing is both casual and mainstream.
