Who Is: Jacob The Jeweler

Jacob Arabo, better know as Jacob the Jeweler, is one of the most infamous jewelers of all time, having worked with everyone from Jay-Z to Elton John.
Born and raised in Russia for the early years of his life, Jacob always had a great fascination with jewelry. After moving to the United States, Jacob began studying jewelry design during his teenage years. After noticing his obvious talent, he then took his craft to New York’s Diamond District, creating unique pieces for numerous jewelry labels and private clients. In the mid-1990’s, after opening his own shop a few years prior, Jacob caught the attention of Faith Evans and The Notorious B.I.G.. From there, Jacob The Jeweler became a trademark name in custom-made jewelry.
He is currently serving a two and a half year jail sentence for money laundering in ties with the Black Mafia Family.

Who Is: Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld, born in 1933, is a German-born fashion designer and artist based in Paris, France most well known as head designer and creative director for the fashion house Chanel and creative director of Fendi.
One of the latest releases in the Chanel brand are theTemporary Tattoos that are quickly becoming a must have accessory for spring and summer. The tattoos feature the famous double C’s, Karl Lagerfeld’s famous chains, rosaries, and birds. Called Les Trompe L’Oeil de CHANEL Temporary Skin Art, these exclusive designs are based on the temporary tattoos that creative director Peter Philips showcases at the Paris runway show. Each pack contains five sheets (with 55 total designs included in each). Check out pictures below.

Who Is: Dappa Dan

Dappa Dan, a true Harlem streetwear historian, is renowned for his high-end fabric customization during the 80’s and 90’s for the likes of Eric B. & Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Mike Tyson and Biz Markie. His shop, located on 125th Street, was open 24-hours a day until it got shut down due to companies taking legal action for his use of others logos.

Alexander McQueen 1969-2010

Known for his unconventional designs and amazing runway production, McQueen was the ultimate iconoclast.  Throughout his career McQueen displayed a rebellion by shocking the fashion industry with controversy and avant-garde collections which earned him the nickname “the hooligan of English fashion.”  His career was filled with many accomplishments from head designer of Givenchy in 1996 to his partnership with the Gucci Group in 2000 where he served as Creative Director. Through provocative and dramatic designs McQueen was able to influence an entire generation.  

Who Is: Ralph Lauren

A definite household name, Ralph Lauren (and lesser known real name, Ralph Lifshitz) is one of the most renowned designers and business executives in the fashion industry. Best known for his Polo brand, Lauren was born to a Jewish family in The Bronx, New York in the late 1930’s. After serving in the Army for a few years and then working at Brooks Brothers, Lauren opened a neck-tie store that would carry some of his own designs under the name ‘Polo’ in the 1960’s. In the 70’s, the iconic Polo logo was introduced, almost instantly becoming a classic in design. Now, there are 35 Ralph Lauren boutiques across the United States, in cities such as Chicago, New York and San Francisco. As of last year, Ralph Lauren is worth an estimated $2.8 billion, according to Forbes.

“Building off its original collaborative t-shirt back in 2008, famed Japanese architectural firm Wonderwall teams up with KAWS yet again, bringing the original graphic to life in the form of a vinyl figure. It seems like a release is slated for next month, with two different colorways available. The figure measures 22cm high. The Birkin bag is the definite symbol of ultimate luxury, being so exclusive that even attempting to buy one can require time on a two year waiting list. Named after British-born actress and singer Jane Birkin, the starting cost can be around $5,000, ranging all the way up to six-figure digits. Varying in material from leather to ostrich, these bags can sell for up to $25,000 dollars used on eBay.

Who Is: Rei Kawakubo

Rei Kawakubo, born in 1942, is the founder of Comme des Garçons. Starting as a freelance stylist some 40 years ago, it’s undeniable that her background in the fashion business is very strong. In 1973, Rei established Comme des Garçons Co. Ltd in Tokyo and opened up her first boutique two years later. By the early 80’s, CDG was now both a men’s and women’s line that went on to become a staple in Paris fashion.
